HISTORY:
St Hilda's was started as one of the Church of England Schools in connection
with the Deaconess Home and was known as the Deaconess High School. The objective then was to 'afford a liberal and thorough
education for girls combined with moral and religious training in the doctrines of the Church of England'. The school is named
for St Hilda, Abbess of Whitby.
The School first catered to boys and girls but the boys did not have place
there when they reach age 10 years.
